About CICP
|
The Central Indiana Corporate Partnership (CICP) was formed in 1999 to bring together the chief executives of Central Indiana's most prominent corporations and its university presidents in a regional approach to long-term economic growth. The collective influence of the region's CEOs and higher education leaders has made CICP the focal point for economic development at the Crossroads of America. CICP has been a thought leader on economic policy at the local, regional and state levels, conducting in-depth, nonpartisan research on issues like government reform, the economic development potential of Indiana's universities and more. |
We've also worked with local officials and economic developers to encourage a more strategic approach to business attraction and retention. And we've promoted a pro-growth legislative agenda, compiling a record of Statehouse successes that include major investments in higher education, fundamental tax reform and incentives for innovation and business formation. In 2001, CICP released one of its most ambitious studies in partnership with the Battelle Memorial Institute, a new blueprint for regional economic development that advised a focus on key industry clusters – advanced manufacturing, the life sciences, logistics and technology, with an overall focus on entrepreneurship to diversify Central Indiana's economy. |
The 'Battelle report' was adopted as economic policy by local and state government, and in the years that followed CICP launched or incorporated initiatives that address each of our targeted industries as well as regional business attraction. We now serve as the parent organization for this ‘family' of initiatives, creating a cohesive economic development structure for Central Indiana: - The BioCrossroads life sciences initiative has raised more than $80 million in dedicated venture capital for industry start-ups and helped hundreds of life sciences companies grow and succeed in the region. - TechPoint is dedicated to growing Indiana’s technology sector by tackling issues like human capital, entrepreneurship and venture investment, and industry connectivity and networking. - Conexus Indiana is an initiative focused on leveraging Indiana's strengths in advanced manufacturing and logistics, two industries at the heart of our economy, by building a world-class workforce and leading new industry partnerships. - The Indy Partnership is the marketing and business attraction consortium representing 10 Central Indiana counties, working with the other initiatives to market the region and provide a single point of contact for companies seeking a new home or location to grow.
